OH&S on Red Anchor

ed Anchor'S experienced crew have all passed stringent personal and professional checks. They are subject to the STCW 95, which is the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers. The convention was originally sanctioned in 1978, modified in 1995 and entered into force in 1997.

This consists of training in:

  1. Personal Survival Techniques
  2. Firefighting and Fire Prevention
  3. Elementary First Aid
  4. Personal Safety and Social Responsibility

Every crewmember also holds an ENG 1, which is a Seafarers Medical Certificate. This is renewed every two years.

The captain, Matt Donegan holds a Certificate of Competency - Master of Yachts under 3000gt.

Medical Equipment

We also carry Medicines and Medical Equipment onboard in accordance with the Merchant Shipping Medical Scale Regulations UK MSN 1768 (M&F)- Scale A (unrestricted trade). This complies with current EC directive 92/29 on minimum standards for ship’s medical stores for a voyage of 12 months carrying a crew of 10 persons.

In addition, Red Anchor carries Defibrillation equipment on board.

Fire Equipment

Red Anchor carries fire extinguishers and fire hoses with nozzles, a fire axe and a fire blanket and breathing apparatus and one fire suit. The yacht is also fitted with smoke detectors and all crew are trained in fire prevention and fire fighting.

Life Saving Equipment

Red Anchor has the following life saving equipment that all meet international safety standards:

  1. Four life rafts for 10 people each fitted with cradles and hydrostatic release
  2. Two life rings with lighted buoy
  3. 18 life jackets plus five children’s life jackets
  4. Two bridge life rings with life buoys and light
